It is the declaration that every generation of Chicanos has had to make again — to the systems that tried to erase them, to the culture that kept being surprised they were still standing, to every force that bet against the barrio and lost. It is the declaration of the abuela who raised her family in a country that didn’t want her. The declaration of the first-generation student who graduated when no one expected it. The declaration of the Chicano artist who kept making work when the world wasn’t watching. Aquí Seguimos. We are still here. We were always going to be. 🖤✊
